Additional En Route Information

Canadian Jazz/electronica outfit Four80East returns for their highly-anticipated new studio album En Route. Titled for its constant flow of instrumental groove, the contemporary duo's Native Language Music debut and first new release in five years puts a fresh spin on their past work to create a collection that's remarkably cinematic. Attractively packaged in a "deluxe-edition" jewel case with die-cut slipcase.

What Customers Say About En Route:

The sound is very laid back and just wonderful to listen too. They have a fresh new sound, that make me thing about the old days old BeeBop music. This is one for the collection.

I am a proud Four80East fan and am glad to have this one in my collection. There are no two songs on this disc that sound alike. The thing I love most about this band is that they are so inventive and don't rely too much on a formula. This is one of the few recordings I have ever listened to in which I like every cut. and I have loved them ever since.

I am sucker for great melody and they have it mastered. En Route continues that tradition. I don't approach my music purchases with the idea that the artist should be playing solely jazz, funk or whatever other genre of music. "Nocturnal"was my first Four80East c.d. Four80East defies all of that anyway and they haven't disappointed me yet.

There are two or three songs that have familiar elements in them, but they all have their own unique flavor.

So far my favorite track, 51 Division, is sizzlin'. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprise listening to En Route. So I wasn't expecting too much when I purchase this CD. To paraphrase the original Funkmaster himself, George Clinton, "if you like a little Doobie in your Funk" give this CD a try. This is my first Four80East CD, but it definitely won't be my last. If you've read some of my other reviews, I've gotten somewhat bore of Smooth Jazz, well, it's probably more Smooth Jazz radio than anything else. This album is definitely a toe-tappin', head-noddin', and in some cases, a rump-shakin' joint.

It's an otherwise decent composition with with some annoying "twilight zone" music chiming in over it. I must say, I don't love the first track. I'll check out more of 480east. After listening to samples, I thought I'd take a gamble on a group I'd never really listened to before. If you're into a more modern, groovy-smooth kind of jazz; this is what you want. The rest are great, indeed for a road trip of just chillin.

Do not hesitate to buy any of the previous albums. I have all of their albums and this one sucks compared to the other albums. You will not be disappointed these guys are awesome.
